Nature and Sea: Mount Conero
A visit to the Mount Conero Park, with its countless panoramas, with its colours that change with the seasons, is an incomparable attraction able to convey strong emotions to any visitor. In particular the Park offers a vast range of opportunities to experience fully the relationship with nature, as well as the history and traditions of the place.
Set up in 1987 in almost 6,000 hectares of territory, it is a coastal park offering varied and breathtaking surroundings. Within its boundaries, overlooking the sea, we find Mount Conero, the most important geological and naturalistic highpoint of the mid Adriatic.
Its slopes are mostly covered in ‘Macchia Mediterranea’, or scrubland, while the northern part contains vast pinewoods. The landscape is littered with historical and artistic features ranging from ancient rock engravings to roman caves, from Benedictine and Franciscan monasteries to defensive structures such as the Napoleonic Fort and the Clementina tower and Portonovo.
