Nature and Sea: Grotte di Frasassi (caves)

Genga, a small municipality in the province of Ancona, extends its territory over impressive highland panoramas, at the foot of the Marche Apennines. Here in its vast confines can be found the Frasassi Gorge eroded by the river Sentino, of exceptional landscape and natural interest; it contains numerous caves, which at various times have brought to light finds from Prehistoric life: Grotta del Buco Cattivo, Grotta del Mezzogiorno, Grotta dei Baffoni, Grotta Bella and Grotta del Fiume. Here in this gorge is where we find the famous Frasassi caves and the ‘Grotta del Santuario’.
